# Using AI Search Agent

HARPA AI includes Search Agent, a tool combining AI with traditional search methods for extensive online and website searches. It's an alternative to tools like Microsoft Bing AI or Perplexity for Google Chrome users.

Search Agent activates automatically as you search the web e.g. with Google or Bing, or whenever you run the /search-agent command in HARPA AI.

Search Agent is designed to deliver quick and concise answers, with minimal hallucinations, and allows for follow-up queries to get deeper insight.

The agent supports three modes:

  • Quick, to get a fast response based on the top search results combined with AI knowledge.
  • Deep, which breaks your question into search intents, performs multiple queries, then extracts data from the websites and finally runs the result through AI.
  • Website, which allows you to search for information on a specific website, helpful for themed forums, documentation wikis, and other resources.

Search Agent includes web crawler to perform a deep web research.

# How to run Search Agent?

Highlight any text on page and click magnifying glass icon in the HARPA AI quick access bar, or type /search-agent in the chat box.

# How to run Explain Command?

In addition to the Search Agent, HARPA comes with the /explain command, perfect to get easy-to-understand explanations for complex topics.

Both commands can be powered by GPT-3, GPT-4, Google Gemini, Claude AI, or other LLMs, making them a perfect alternative to Perplexity.

# How to get AI answers alongside the search results?

Setting up an AI search assistant is very easy if you have a ChatGPT account and a Chromium-based browser. Try searching on Google (or another search engine) and get AI answers alongside the search results, to incorporate traditional methods in collaboration with ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude AI or another LLM.

Search assistance works with the following search engines: Google Search, Bing, Baidu, Yahoo!, Yandex, DuckDuckGo, Kagi, AOL, Naver, Brave, Ecosia, and others.

  1. You can use the Search Agent by opening the search engine page and typing in your query as you normally would.

  2. HARPA AI will query ChatGPT in parallel and form a brief answer on the given topic. You can open HARPA by clicking its icon in Chrome toolbar, clicking the minimized window at the bottom right, or pressing Alt+A (on Windows) or ^+A (on Mac).

  1. Use the chat interface in HARPA AI to ask any follow-up questions and receive an AI-generated answer. HARPA AI can answer questions and explain complex concepts, present arguments, pros and cons, find additional information for you and list related topics.

The HARPA AI ChatGPT Search Agent is an AI automation command, comprising over 1000 lines of code and dozens of user scenarios.

Its deep research mode and intelligent query handling prioritize content-rich sources and extend data analysis, making it highly efficient for detailed information retrieval.

# Key Features of the HARPA AI Search Agent

  1. Text Selection Recognition. The command detects whether text is highlighted. Based on this, it either initiates a QUICK search or asks the user to provide a query.

  2. Deep Research Mode. Users can activate the DEEP RESEARCH mode from the initial menu that appears after invoking the command without text selection. Alternatively, they can switch to this mode after completing a QUICK SEARCH. This mode offers more extensive search capabilities.

  3. Follow-Up Questions. After each search, users have the option to ask FOLLOW-UP questions. This feature involves a series of GPT queries that understand the context of your question, regardless of how it's phrased.

  4. Enhanced Query Processing in Deep Research. In DEEP RESEARCH mode, the system not only uses the user's query but also autonomously generates two additional queries. This helps in gathering and analyzing information that may be relevant to the original query.

  5. URL Ranking and Prioritization. A total of 24 URLs are ranked and prioritized based on relevance and the type of web resource. Preference is given to substantive content over social media platforms.

  6. Web Crawler for In-depth Information Retrieval. The WEB CRAWLER conducts an in-depth search of information from the top 7 search results: the top 3 from the main query and the top 2 from each of the two additional queries. Additionally, ChatGPT, for generating the final response, receives an array of links, titles, and descriptions from the Search Engine Results Page (SERP), expanding the size of the information processed to up to 11 resources.

  1. Start the Search agent command on any webpage:

    • Select any text on the page, and launch the Search command via the HARPA AI quick access bar.

    • Or open HARPA AI and select Search from the quick access commands list.

    • Or start typing /search-agent in the HARPA chat box.

If you highlight text and activate the search agent command, it will automatically initiate a QUICK SEARCH scenario. However, if you require a more comprehensive search, after receiving the quick response you can type a follow-up question or choose the DEEP RESEARCH option.

  1. Enter your search query for a quick search or select an option:

    • QUICK SEARCH: HARPA will automatically extract data from the SERP query and provide a high-quality response, citing up to 8 additional resources.
    • DEEP RESEARCH: Enter your search query, and HARPA will analyze multiple sub-queries and websites, include links to sources, and aim to guide the AI away from inaccuracies for an optimal factual response. The search agent will provide an answer after considering and prioritizing over 20 websites and fetching information from 7 of them.
    • WEBSITE SEARCH: Enter your search query and a website. This search tool will help you gather information from any resource of your interest, such as Reddit, YouTube, or a documentation wiki.
  2. Receive an answer to your search query and either pose a FOLLOW-UP QUESTION or initiate a new search.

# How to Use the Explain Command

  1. Start the Explain command on any webpage:

    • Select any text on the page and launch the Explain command via the HARPA AI quick access bar.

    • Or open HARPA AI and select Explain from the quick access commands list.

    • Or start typing /explain in the HARPA chat box.

If you highlight text and activate the explain command, it will automatically start running the command using the selected text as input. After receiving the response, you will have the option to conduct a deep search, ask a follow-up question, or enter a new request for explanation.

  1. Enter your input or press Enter to parse from the opened web page.

  2. Receive easy-to-understand explanations for your requested topics. Feel free to ask a clarifying question or start the process anew.
